Sourcing policy
Where our information comes from.
Originals first. Aggregators last.
Primary sources
Official Chicago Bears releases, the NFL, official transactions and injury reports, team press conferences, and league statistics. These are tier 1.
Beat & national reporting
Trusted Chicago beat reporters and national NFL reporters (tier 2–3). We attribute: "According to…", "First reported by…". We link out to the original reporting and never republish a publisher's article body.
Social media
We track trusted X accounts through compliant embeds and official APIs only. We do not scrape in violation of platform terms. Social posts are treated as tier 4–5 unless from an official account.
Rumors
Rumors are kept in persistent threads with an explicit status (watching, reported, multiple reports, imminent, confirmed, dismissed). A rumor only moves to "confirmed" on tier 1–2 reporting or an official statement.
Conflicts
When sources conflict, the claim stays labeled developing or disputed. We show both reports and update the status once it resolves. We do not silently drop the minority report.
What we never do
We do not scrape paywalled content to bypass access controls, do not publish what normal users can't see, and do not present another publisher's reporting as Huddle312 original.
